Getting started

How to use the CAVA calorie calculator

  1. 01

    Start with a base

Open Bases and add your rice, lentils or greens. For a half and half bowl, add two bases and set each one to Light in your tray, which counts half a scoop.

  2. 02

Add a main, dips, toppings and dressing

Work through Mains, Dips + Spreads, Toppings and Dressings. Set any line to Light for a small scoop, or tap + twice for a double portion.

  3. 03

    Or pick a ready-made order

Curated Bowls, Curated Pitas and Kids Meal hold CAVA's set menu items as full meals, so you do not need to build them from parts.

  4. 04

    Read and copy your totals

Calories, protein, carbs and fat update as you tap. Open Detailed breakdown for fiber, sugar and sodium, then use Copy meal summary to paste your order into any food tracker.

Step one

CAVA bases nutrition

Greens are 20 to 35 calories. Rice and lentils are 270 to 310 calories per scoop.

Baby Spinach203g3g2g0g70mg
Romaine201g4g3g0g10mg

Black lentils carry 18g of protein and 15g of fiber, more protein than falafel or roasted vegetables. Both rice options have 770mg of sodium per scoop.

Half and half base calories

CAVA lists full scoops only, so the calculator counts a half scoop as 50% of the full amount. Half SuperGreens and half Saffron Basmati Rice comes to about 163 calories and 30g of carbs. Scoops are done by hand, so your bowl may be a little different.

Step two

CAVA protein nutrition

The protein per 100 calories column helps if you track macros. Higher means more protein for fewer calories.

CAVA allergens

CAVA states that it cannot guarantee any item is free of allergens or animal products. Food is prepared in shared areas, including with salmon and shrimp where available, and ingredients can change with suppliers.

CAVA's guide marks each item for wheat, milk, soy, eggs, tree nuts, sesame, peanuts, fish and shellfish, plus vegan and vegetarian. If you have a serious allergy, check that chart for your exact items and talk to the staff before you order.

The fine print

Where our CAVA data comes from

  • Source: CAVA's own Nutrition and Allergen Guide, covering 113 items across 10 categories. We do not take numbers from tracking apps.
  • Each item is one regular portion. Curated bowls and pitas are listed as the full meal.
  • Half portions count as 50% of the full portion, and double portions as two times. CAVA does not publish half portion numbers.
  • Drinks are listed in 12, 16 and 22 oz sizes. California lemonade has its own rows because the recipe is different there. Self-serve drink values are calculated without ice.
  • Scoops are done by hand, so your meal can be a little more or less than the guide. We are not connected to CAVA, and this page is general information, not medical advice.

The Breakdown

What you're really eating

01

Greens Change Everything

The base decides most of the bowl. Every greens option is 20 to 35 calories, while a scoop of rice or lentils is 270 to 310. Swap Saffron Basmati Rice for SuperGreens and the same bowl drops by 255 calories and 735mg of sodium.

02

Lean Mains Lead

Grilled Steak gives 23g of protein for 170 calories with only 280mg of sodium. Grilled Chicken tops the list at 28g of protein for 250 calories. Falafel is the outlier at 350 calories with 6g of protein.

03

Dressing Is the Swing

Yogurt Dill is 30 calories. Garlic Dressing is 180, six times as much, and Greek Vinaigrette is 130. Pick the dressing last and check the dashboard, because it can outweigh every topping in the bowl combined.
